| After the final closure of the once extensive Porto trolleybus system in December 1997 six vehicles remained in the city for further preservation: 1 BUT/Leyland 1959 two doors 23 BUT/Leyland 1963 three doors 49 Lancia /Dalfa/GE 1967 74 EFACEC/Kiepe 1984 102 Lancia/Dalfa/GE 1966 Double-deck 167 EFACEC/Kiepe 1984 artic. No. 74 and 167 were rented to Coimbra in 2001. The two-axle trolleybus 74 was renumbered 71 and is still in service, along with the almost identical original Coimbra EFACEC/Kiepe vehicle. The articulated trolleybus 167 was renumbered 70, but saw little use in Coimbra and returned to its hometown Porto in February 2009. Together with nos. 1, 49 and 102 it is currently stored at the former depot Areosa. No. 23 is exposed at the tramway museum in Massarelos in completely restored condition. For the other preserved vehicles restoration is also foreseen, however, there is not enough capacity at the museums yard to exhibit all trolleybuses today. Massarelos can be reached by the historical tram routes 1 and 18, the museum is open daily except mondays. Photo: above: The articulated trolleybus 70 in service in Coimbra in April 2004.
