| As already reported in May 2006 Neoplan Bus GmbH is to manufacture and deliver 80 Trolleybuses to the town of Barquisimeto in Venezuela. The first of this series designated "Electroliner N6321" should be ready for road tests during July 2007. It is planned to put the vehicle through a rigorous and comprehensive series of test over a period of three months. The final month will see the vehicle being tested in Salzburg under normal working conditions. Of particular note is the newly developed auxiliary system. This system has a power rating of 170 kW but weighs only approximately 60% of conventional systems. This technology is being used for the first time and exclusively in the Neoplan Electroliner. With this powerful system the vehicles will have the properties of a fully fledged "duo bus". A further innovative feature of the vehicle is the wider interior passage width which was achieved by single, as opposed to twin, tyres on the rear axles. The vehicles will be fitted with traction equipment supplied by world player Bombardier of Canada. Bombardier is principally renowned for their world wide tram, metro and train production. (http://www.bombardier.com). These 80 vehicles will also be in the new Electroliner design and will therefore differ somewhat in appearance to the vehicles delivered to Athens, Basel, Lausanne or Bergen. The vehicles will become part of a public transport system similar to a tramway or subway system. Bus stops similar to subway stations, separated reserved lane system, clean, fast and flexible electric propelled vehicles at a much more economic cost than its rail bound counterparts. Truly a futuristic system. This system will alter and affect the very structure of the city. photo: projekt Elektroliner |
